Moving & Handling People Practical Course Course Overview This course is suitable if you have never received any training in moving and handling people.  The course will cover the legislation and CQC essential standards as well as thorough moving & handling practical training and assessment. It is delivered in the workplace to a group of up to 10 learners. Duration: 2 days

Course Content

Firstly, candidates will be introduced to the theory and legislation guiding moving and handling in the workplace. This will cover: * Statistics of moving and handling injuries * The Law * Risk Assessment * Anatomy & Biomechanics * Functions of the Spine * Vertebrae & The Spine * Causes of Back Pain * Ergonomics & Risk Assessment * TILE – application of risk assessment techniques * Controversial Moving and Handling Techniques * Principles of Safer Handling You will be provided guidance and experience in the use of: * Hoists & slings * Slide sheets * Transfer belts & boards * Transfer from bed and chair The trainer will be training staff in using equipment in their workplace.  Therefore, you will need to be able to provide workplace equipment which is safe to use and has recently been quality checked.  The trainer will need to use the following equipment: * Profile bed * Mobile hoist and associated sling * Tubular slide sheet
