Course DetailsQualification Overview This qualification is designed for you if you wish to develop further knowledge and/or skills in this subject area. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator. You will know that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation. This qualification lasts for a period of 3 years, at which point you will need to resit the course, however the recommendation is that you refresh your knowledge annually. We deliver this course to groups of no more than 12 people in the workplace. The course is held over 1 full day (7.5 hours plus breaks). Course Pre-requisites There are no prerequisites for this qualification; however, the awarding body recommends best practice is for learners to hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate. It is advised that you also have a minimum of Level 1 in English Literacy or Numeracy, or equivalent. Course Structure This qualification structure consists of the following: One Mandatory Unit: ‘Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation Skills’. This qualification is assessed through practical observation and oral questioning through the duration of the course by the tutor. Learners must practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques in all the areas indicated within the learning outcomes of the unit. If you are successful, you will receive a certificate roughly 2 weeks after the training event. This qualification lasts for a period of 3 years, after which point you will need to resit the course. It is recommended, however, that you refresh your knowledge annually.
